Zara Muradyan is an interdisciplinary artist born in Armenia. Currently based in Maryland, United States of America, she explores a wide range of artistic mediums and topics in her work. She Has a passion for observing and capturing the essence of art from different periods and cultures. Zara's artwork combines the love of the fibers and fine arts. Zara aims to create visually captivating pieces that provoke emotional response. Her work is influenced by her multicultural background and inspired by the fluidity of the memory and thoughts. Being a silent witness to an active dialogue between her emotions, thoughts, memories that informs her artistic response, Zara is not seeking solutions in her work, but illuminating and distilling how her sight and feelings impact the thought.
"I am exploring the tactile characteristics of fibers and embracing the ancient tradition of stitching. My preferred medium is earth pigments, which allows me to create rich and textured surfaces that invite viewers to engage with the artwork on a physical level."

Zara Muradyan holds a Bachelor's degree in fashion merchandise and fashion illustration, which she obtained from 2000 to 2003. She then pursued a Bachelor's degree in Art and Education from 2003 to 2009 at the Armenian State Pedagogical University.
In 2009, Zara had the opportunity to study and sketch some of the greatest masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance in Perugia, Italy. During her time in Italy, she traveled across the country, visiting museums and art galleries, and immersing herself in the rich artistic history of Italy.
Upon moving to the United States in 2010, Zara began creating her own commercial textiles and hand-drawn batik work. She developed a passion for eco-friendly approaches to surface design and took a master class in 2023 with British artist Claire Benn on the use of earth pigments, allowing her to create rich and textured surfaces that invite viewers to engage with the artwork on a physical level.
